An avid skier, Carina enjoyed a short break working in a ski resort in Italy, before entering the meetings industry in 2002 as the Marketing and Operations Director for IMEX in Frankfurt as part of the original launch team for the exhibition. Following the expansion of the IMEX brand into America in 2009, Carina was appointed CEO of the IMEX Group. In this role, Carina is responsible for all aspects of the business.

Guerard is an author to two books, Weddings by Tara Guerard and Southern Weddings: New Looks from the Old South and founder of Lettered Olive, a couture letterpress paper company. Along with launching a new YouTube series, The Tara Guerard Soiree team celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2017.

Her career began in 1996 after graduating Rider University Cum Laude with a degree in journalism. She worked part-time for The Trentonian for 2 years before deciding to freelance for some of the areas top news outlets such as The Star Ledger, The New York Times and The Associated Press. In 2001 she took a staff photography job with Greater Media Newspapers for 2 years. During that time she received 19 awards for her images; the most ever won by a staff photographer with the organization . Her most heralded work was her collection of photographs taken on 911 and Ground Zero shortly after the attack that has been exhibited all across New Jersey ever since. Those images are registered with the 911 National Memorial and Museum and were also featured in her first book titled "Dialogue 3" that was released in 2002.
